Explainer videos are extremely popular at the moment. The rise of the explainer video has been fuelled by the need for website users to get information fast. For recruitment businesses, candidates and clients don’t want to read a page of text that could be easily summarised in a 3 minute video.

Explainer videos fulfil that purpose. They are short videos that sit on your website and explain one particular point. Recruitment agencies can use these videos to explain the candidate registration process or perhaps what differentiates you from your competition.

Some of the statistics surrounding explainer videos are fantastic. There are claims of a 30% to 300% rise in online conversions. So even though an explainer video may not increase the traffic to your recruitment website, it could help to convert those visitors that are already on your site.

The problem for small to medium sized recruitment firms is the cost. To have a video professionally made, from concept to execution can run into thousands of pounds. If you ever need to update it or change it, then the costs could quickly rack up even further.

One way to get round this is to create your own explainer video. There are a number of ways to do this, but one of the most popular is an online platform called Powtoon. Powtoon allows you to create animated videos and presentations for free.

Reasons we love Powtoon:

  1. Familiar layout that resembles Microsoft PowerPoint means it is easy to get up and running straight away.
  2. Lots of free customisable themes, or the ability to upload your own.
  3. Direct integration with video hosting sites like Youtube and Wistia
